"신은 공평하다. 모든 이에게 특별한 재능을 쥐어준다"라고 세상에 하나뿐일 내 DNA에서 뿜어져나오는 나의 재능을 맘껏 펼쳐보이리라 다짐한다.
'분야를 대표하는 브랜드가 자신의 이름 석자가 된다는 것' 이는 경쟁시대를 살아가는 현대인으로서 가장 큰 성공일 것이다. 사람들은 성공을 위해 자신만의 분야를 찾아 전문가가 되기위해 평생을 받쳐 노력한다.
그런데 자신만의 분야를 대표하는 것도 모잘라 한 시대를 대표하는 인물이 있었다.
그는 화가이자 조각가,발명가, 건축가, 기술자, 해부학자, 식물학자, 도시 계획가, 천문학자, 지리학자, 음악가였다. 500년이 지난 지금까지 그는 여전히 놀라운 인물로 존재한다.
내가 꿈꾸던 인물이 실제했다는 사실은 매우 행복하고 소름돋는 경험이다.
르네상스(Renaissance)라 하면 고대의 그리스-로마 문화를 이상으로 하여 이들을 부흥시킴으로써 새 문화를 창출해 내려는 운동으로, 그 범위는 사상·문학·미술·건축 등 다방면에 걸친 것이었다. 5세기 로마제국의 몰락과 함께 중세가 시작되었다고 보고 그때부터 르네상스에 이르기까지의 시기를 야만시대, 인간성이 말살된 시대로 파악하고 고대의 부흥을 통하여 이 야만시대를 극복하려는 것을 특징으로 한다.
르네상스(Renaissance)시대는
문학에 세익스피어(William Shakespeare), 단테(Dante, Alighieri), 세르반테스(Miguel de Cervantes)
미술엔 미켈란젤로(Michelangelo Buonarroti), 라파엘로(Raffaello Sanzio) 등
인류 전 시대를 아우르는 천재들의 시대였다.
그중에서도 레오나르도 다빈치(Leonardo Da vinci)의 존재는 단연 돋보였다.
그는 호기심이 많고 창조적인 인간 이었으며, 어려서부터 인상 깊은 사물, 관찰한 것, 착상 등을 즉시 스케치 하였다.
전형적인 천재(天才),전인(全人)의 모습이였다.
그에 의해 르네상스의 가장 훌륭한 업적, 즉 원근법과 자연에의 과학적인 접근, 인간신체의 해부한적 구조, 이에 따른 수학적 비율등이 완벽한 완성에 이르게 되었다해도 과언이 아니다.
그는 1452년 4월15일 피렌체 근교의 빈치에서 출생하였다. 공증인 세르 피에로의 서자로 태어났다. 어머니는 카타리나라는 이름을 가진 농사꾼의 딸이였으나 신분의 차이로 그가 태어날 아버지는 다른 여자와 결혼 하였다.
어릴때 부터 수학을 비롯한 과학,문학,음악에 재주가 뛰어났으며 유달리 그림그리기도 즐겨하였다. 그래서 1466년 피렌체로 가서 부친의 친구인 베로키오에게서 도제수업을 받았다. 이때 그의 자연에 대한 예리한 관찰과 정확한 묘사의 교양과 기교를 갖추게 되었다. 그리고 1519년 프랑수아1세의 초빙으로 프랑스의 보아주에 가서 건축,운하 공사에 종사하다가 죽었다.
전인(全人) - 지(知).정(情).의(義)를 갖춘 어느 한쪽에 치우치지 않은 온전한 인간.
그의 능력은 그가 남긴 많은 작품들에 의해 확인되었다.

그의 관찰력과 호기심, 상상력은 수학,과학을 기초로 하고 있다.
수학을 기초로 하는 인체의 비례, 해부학을 기초로 한 근육과 뼈의 움직임, 호기심에서 비롯된 과학적이고 체계적인 관찰력은 사물을 보고 표현하는데 큰 도움을 주었다.
그의 머리에서 시작된 과학적인 사고능력은 미적능력을 통해 손끝으로 마무리 되었다.
그의 특색인 깊은 사유와 관찰의 내용을 표현하는 놀라운 사실적 표현기교는 마치 무(無)에서 유(有)를 창조하는 듯하다.
그러나 그의 연구결과는 19세기 말에 들어서야 주목을 받으면서, 다시 과학적인 천재성을 조명받았다.
그에 대한 평전 뿐만 아니라 그가 남긴 23권의 책을 정리한 (레오나르도 다빈치 노트북)책, 그리고 그의 천재성을 분석하고 스스로에게 적용할 수 있도록 한 자기계발도서(레오나르도 다빈치처럼 생각하기)까지 많은 책들이 우리나라에 출판되고 있다.
워낙 다방면에 재능을 보이다 보니 그의 천재성은 다수에 의해 만들어진게 아닌가 하는 의심까지 사고있다.
보통의 사람이 믿을수 없는 그의 천재성 덕분일꺼다.
